Amazing Art by Amazing Artists

 

Florence County Disabilities Foundation held its Annual “Amazing Art by Special Artists” art competition Friday, April 26th - Thursday, May 2nd 2019, in Lake City, South Carolina. Each year the Foundation awards a total of $2000 in prize money at the end of the event. Selected artwork is exhibited in the Pee Dee Thrift of Lake City, and the art competition winners are determined by popular choice and juried panel votes by professional artists.

How to Submit:

Entrants are required to creatively express themselves in an innovative manner through their artwork.  Entries must not be plagiarized, stolen or copied from another source.  Entries must not defame or invade the rights of any person, living or dead.  Entries not adhering to these guidelines will not be considered. 

Medium & Specifications:

Only two-dimensional artwork, no larger than 24” x 30” (60cm x 75cm, including matting) is accepted, Watercolors, pastels, pen and ink, charcoal, photography, two-dimensional mixed media, as well as computer generated art, are all acceptable media.

Entries must be mounted on foam core or matted so they are firm enough to stand on easels. 

Entries that use copyrighted or trademarked images will not be accepted. 

The artist will be responsible for transportation of the artwork to and removal of the artwork from the venue/designed location. 

Eligibility:

Each participating artist with a disability must be 18 years of years of age or older at the time the entries are due and must be affiliated with the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs or an organization with the same eligibility criteria i.e. lifelong disabilities of intellectual disability, autism, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury and conditions related to each of these four disabilities.  

Entries should be the original design and artwork of the artist.  Each artist may submit only one entry.

 

 

Judging:

1.   All submissions will be reviewed and judged by an independent panel of art professionals. 

2. We will notify the affiliated contact from your county if your entry is chosen for an award. The finalists are invited to  attend the awards ceremony.

Awards & Recognition

Awards will be presented on Friday, April 27th t at 11 am.  The grand prize winner will receive a $1,000 cash award.  Cash awards will also be given to 2nd place ($500) and 3rd place ($200). 

A People’s Choice award ($300) will also be presented at the awards ceremony.  All entrants will receive a Certificate of Participation.

The competition organizers reserve the right to modify or clarify any of the competition rules during the term of the competition without notice.

 

Artwork For Sale:

Artwork selected to be displayed in “Amazing Art by Special Artists” will have the opportunity to designate if their artwork is for sale with a price to purchase at the end of the competition.
